Arkansas Nursing Home Care Receives its First Failing Grade

Millions of Dollars in Recoveries Awarded

Arkansas’s nursing home ranking plummets 17 spots, down from No. 25 and dropping the state to its first failing grade.

Arkansas nursing homes consistently underachieved, failing to score an above-average grade in all but two reviewed measures. Although 1 in 4 Arkansas nursing homes were cited a severe deficiency, the state’s percentage of homes with these dangerous citations decreased 12 percent since the state’s initial report card.

This year marks the fewest number of Arkansas nursing homes (27.3 percent) that scored an above-average inspection rating. 4 of 5 Arkansas nursing homes failed to achieve above-average direct care staffing levels, endangering resident safety and care in far too many facilities.

Arkansas’s failing nursing home grade ranks second highest among the Southwest Region’s failed states.
